Make your magical day even more magical by following this zero waste guide to Disneyland. It may be difficult to be completely zero-waste during your trip to the happiest place on Earth, but these tips will help you reduce your overall waste while in the park.

Zero Waste Guide to Disneyland - Mixed Recycling Bin

1. Recycle

Disneyland has done a great job placing recycling bins throughout the park. If you pass one recycling bin, it won’t take long before you come across another. Look for mixed-use bins that allow you to recycle plastic, paper, cans, and glass.

Zero Waste Guide to Disneyland - Bring Your Own Water Bottle

2. Bring Your Own Water Bottle

Avoid buying overpriced plastic water bottles by bringing your own bottle instead. There are plenty of places to refill bottles for free in the park. My two favorite water refill stations are located in the bazaar stands at Galaxy’s Edge and in the outside dining area of Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante in Frontierland. My bf and I always bring our 64 ounce Otterbox Tumbler to share. We usually have to fill up once or twice while in the park.

Disney Max Pass

3. Add-on the Disney MaxPass

The Disney MaxPass allows you to reserve FastPasses on your phone, so you do not need to grab a paper print out of the FastPass. The MaxPass also lets you download unlimited ride photos to your phone and unlimited photos taken by Disney photographers. This zero-waste swap saves a lot of paper!

Disneyland Ice Cream - Low Waste Treats

4. Eat Low Waste Snacks

I would recommend packing your own snacks and bringing them into the park (Disney allows outside food which is awesome!). If you are craving a yummy theme park snack, some low waste options include a pretzel (without any sauce), a churro, or an ice cream cone. All of those treats come with a small piece of paper, so be sure to recycle the paper when you finish your treat.

Monte Cristo Sandwich Disneyland

5. Eat at a Full-Service Restaurant

Avoid the need for plastic utensils by eating at a full-service restaurant that has silverware available. Be sure to ask for no straw at these restaurants too. My favorite full-service restaurants in Disneyland are Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square (I recommend ordering the Three-Cheese Monte Cristo sandwich and the Pommes Frites – keep in mind this is enough food for 2 people) and Carnation Cafe on Main Street (I recommend ordering Walt’s Chili).
