In January I posted a reader survey to get a better idea of what the T&T community wanted to see from me. Side note: I still need a better name to call you guys, because the T&T community sounds way too uptight. But anywho, I was really pleased by the results. 75 readers responded to the survey – so thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts. I also incentivized readers to complete the survey by entering them into a raffle for a $50 ThredUp giftcard. The gift card has been emailed to the winner – @mononokemaiden. Alright, so let’s dive into the 2022 reader survey results.

Demographics

The majority of T&T readers are between ages 26-30 and have been following along for 1-2 years. This information matches what I believed to be true. Our content is catered towards a millennial audience and I think our voice and writing style definitely speaks to that. In 2020, after the murder of George Floyd, we received an influx of followers, so I’m not surprised that most readers have been around for 1-2 years.

If you’re wondering why I say we and not me, it’s because I have a small team helping make T&T happen. My fiance takes my photos, my pr manager handles my inbox, and my blog writer helps create additional content when needed. I may do a more in-depth post about my team in the future.

Platform Insights

An overwhelming majority of readers discovered my platform through Instagram – with 67% of readers identifying IG as their favorite platform. This surprised me because I know a lot of people claim to be over Instagram. I personally love the Instagram platform because of the amazing connections I’ve made with other bloggers and thrift lovers in the space. I’m glad my community loves the platform as much as I do.

I found this to be really interesting because I do not share updates nearly enough on IG. My newsletter subscribers receive the most detailed updates for upcoming lives, new content, and exciting life things. I will make an effort to add more updates on IG as well.

Go follow me on YouTube if you voted Not Yet! Aha, I really enjoy creating YouTube content and I don’t think my audience really knows I post videos over there. I may start repurposing YouTube videos to IG, since most of the audience prefers IG as a platform. Stay tuned!

I thought more people would have voted that they prefer short TikTok-style videos. I think this information means I can continue creating videos of all lengths. But I will definitely focus more on 2-5 minute videos. This makes me want to create short little digestible 5 minute live videos or short IG videos. My mind is racing with ideas!

My analytics show that T&T home decor content performs the best, so it was interesting to see that survey respondents love sustainability and thrifting content the most. I can definitely create a mix of sustainable and thrifted home content. This just means I have to keep my 600 sq foot apartment in tip-top shape to make it easy to film content.

Content Requests

Overall, people are interested in seeing more sustainable lifestyle content, more short-form videos, and more thrifting videos (specifically thrift styling). I am super excited to create content that the T&T audience wants to see.
