It’s crazy how my vision for my blog has changed so much compared to back when I started in 2012. When I first started my blog I had an entirely different name and only really focused on natural hair. Years later, I realized I wanted to showcase less of my own hair journey and more of others. I also wanted to share my love for thrift shopping. These two factors gave birth to what is now Thrifts & Tangles. I wanted this blog to inspire young women to embrace their natural hair and also encourage them to try shopping secondhand first. Now in 2019, I feel like it’s time for another rebrand (but no name change this time). For this rebrand, I want to add more elements involving my newfound interests. I still enjoy thrift shopping and natural hair but I feel like there is more that I could be sharing. I have a deeper message I want to get across, so hopefully this blog moodboard will help me stay true to that message.

Blog Moodboard and the Future of Thrifts & Tangles

Thrifts & Tangles will be a place where you can find:

Thrifted goods:

I will never get sick of bragging about how little I spend on an item. I still want to share the treasure that is thrifting and hopefully encourage others to check out their local thrift stores.

Natural hair:

The tangles part of my name always gets tricky, because personally, I do not enjoy doing my hair. I wear a total of like three hairstyles and they all take me barely anytime to do. Hair is just not my thing. I do, however, love learning about how others care for their hair. So the Curl Files series will be coming back!

Sustainability:

Living a more sustainable lifestyle has become so important to me. I want to share more of my journey of becoming an ethical consumer and living a more conscious lifestyle. From now on, this platform will be used to promote brands that are socially and/or environmentally conscious, raise awareness of the harms of fast-fashion, and share easy sustainable lifestyle swaps.

Modeling/LA living:

I’m hoping to tie this in nicely with the other categories. In 2018, I moved to LA and signed with an ethical modeling agency in Los Angeles called Role Models Management. This agency represents models who are activists, eco-conscious, vegan…basically models with a cause! Keep your eyes out for posts on behind the scenes footage, modeling tips, and cool places to visit in this wonderful city.

Will you be doing any personal or business rebranding this year?
