I’ve been on a mission to finish decorating my entryway for almost a month now. The reason it has taken me so long to decorate is because I was on a mission to find great pieces that were affordable and ethical, meaning I wanted to get as many items as possible from the thrift store. After several trips to my local Savers Thrift Store and BTS Thrift Store, I’m proud to announce my entryway table is complete! I spent a total of $60 on all of the decor and $60 on the console table. It cost a total of $120 for this entryway makeover. I’ll say it was $120 well spent. Click here for a tour of my entire apartment.
Entryway Before & After:
How to Decorate an Entryway Table
1. Stick to a color palette: My whole apartment is decorated with a natural color palette. When looking for items I stuck to browns, greens, whites, and hints of metallic. Choose a color palette to make shopping for items easier.
2. Find storage solutions: I live in a tiny apartment so storage is essentials. I knew I wanted to find bins that were cute and stylish. Entryway tables are a great place to add extra storage options.
3. Shop Secondhand First: Buying items secondhand was super important to me. The majority of the items were thrifted meaning I didn’t have to spend a lot of money on this project. One of the items is from TJ Max and one is from ikea. Everything else was thrifted. Check out your local thrift store first, you’ll be surprised by their selection.
4. Get Inspired: I created a pinterest board for entryway inspiration before heading to the thrift store. This helped me realize that certain elements can take an entryway to the next level such as stacking books, adding greenery, and having a focal point (either a painting or a mirror). Create a pinterest board to help you get inspired.
5. Create balance: The key to a good entryway design is to create balance. Mixing up vertical items with horizontal items, playing with textures, and adding different sized pieces create an interesting look.
